Booked for PM - Please call on route Passing visit due to neighbors complaining of smells - This is a pre desludge visit and then we will do a post install visit Please see email below from customer: MPC Services successfully project-managed the removal of a septic tank, and its replacement with a new March Ensign 12 pop STS on 28th May 2024. The septic tank and its successor WTP provides for 3 properties (2-4 Garden Terrace, SK6 7EU) but is located on an adjoining property (Lea Cote Farm). This legal arrangement dates from 1964. Earlier this summer, we received complaints from LCF about smells. There certainly is a problem, and they allege this must originate from our Water Treatment Plant. On 11th August 2025, MPC Services (Shaun Byard) carried out a brief (passing visit) survey. He did not find any fault with our WTP, no smells emanating from the WTP, and he made helpful suggestions about how our neighbours might mitigate their issue. I passed the relevant part of the brief report to LCF on about 25th August. The smells have not abated, and it has been verbally suggested to me that :- We have not been using the WTP correctly, and contaminants must have killed the bacteria that are critical to correct function. I denied this. Next, the occupants of No. 4 have emptied a hot-tub into the system, and this has overwhelmed the system causing sewerage to enter the clean chamber, which is pumping out into the drain and water course. The fowl (sic) has gone over the chamber wall, you will have to have it all cleaned out. N.B. The hot-tub was not emptied into the WTP. Weve been away on holiday until yesterday, and whilst we were absent, LCF commissioned an independent report which I attach. In essence, this claims that our WTP is currently operating, but that the final effluent is being contaminated and re-circulation not operating. Currently bad smells are occurring during discharge of final effluent. Clearly, Id welcome your views on this.
